An easy-going destination
Ideally located, the centre of Lacanau-Océan is accessible on foot in about 15 minutes or by bike in just a few minutes, thanks to the cycle paths that wind their way under the pine trees. To make the most of the ocean, we recommend the north and south beaches of Lacanau-Océan. The north beach is within walking distance, while the south beach is easily reached by bike via the cycle paths under the pine trees.For gentler swimming that is ideal for families, Lacanau Lake is an excellent alternative. There are many activities on offer, including kayaking, pedalos, paddleboarding and boat trips, in a peaceful and safe setting.
At the ocean, be careful of rip currents, which can be dangerous — stick to supervised swimming areas.

Looking for adventure? A tree-top adventure course awaits you nearby, offering a truly fun experience for the whole family, with suspension bridges and zip lines.
When it rains or you need a relaxing break, head to the Escoure cinema, an ideal outing for young and old alike.


Events & markets
Throughout the season, Lacanau buzzes with numerous sporting, cultural and festive events. Be sure to check with the Tourist Office so you don't miss a thing.
For local delicacies and atmosphere, don't miss the markets:
Saturday mornings, all year round, in the centre of Lacanau town.
In summer, the Friday evening and Wednesday morning night markets are perfect for strolling around and discovering local producers.
